The Missing Piece
“I am a whole being, I am not a half being looking for my other half.”

I first read this story in my Psych 101 elective back in college. Dahil sa pagpapaala ni Tinats maraming nahalukay na alaala at emosyon sa infernal abyss ng aking pagkatao. Maraming salamat Tinats sa inspirasyon
This story is more or less the story of my life. Nagawa at naranasan ko na yata lahat ng endeavors at encounters ng missing piece kaya tawa ako nang tawa nung binabasa ko to. Natatawa ako pero nostalgic din. Hehehe.
Good thing that after too many blunders, I’ve finally learned not to depend my happiness on anyone. I am no longer a missing piece. I have become whole.

dakila talaga ang henyong si uncle shelby. too bad he’s dead. also try reading “the giving tree” and “runny babbit: a billy sook” also by Shel Silverstein.
He’s really talented, though if you see him in person you would never guess in a thousand years that he’s a children’s book writer. pero karamihan ng mga libro niya ay nagpapanggap lang na children’s book, pero meron palang several layers of meaning.
He’s got a unique writing style because he was fortunate enough to not grow up with Dostoevsky, Hemingway and Shakespeare forcefully being crammed into his head.

wehehehe! ayos! i didn’t know you were so well read
“the missing piece meets the big o” is the only book i’ve read written by silverstein. i’ll try to read the books you recommended. mukhang maganda rin
songwriter rin pala si silverstein according to wikipedia. galing! talentado!
bakit mo naman nasabing you wouldn’t think he was a children’s book writer? creepy ba siya? but on second thought even madonna and neil gaiman have children’s books. hehehe
and yeah, too much Dostoevsky and Hemingway would make one unbalanced. hehehe.
